Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev sent congratulations on the occasion of Republic of Abkhazia and Republic of South Ossetia Independence Recognition Day to the Foreign Ministers of these countries.
The address to Foreign Minister of Apsny Inal Ardzinba reads:
“Residents of the republic cherish this holiday as a memory for those who defended their Homeland’s independence. It unites all those who are proud of their country, who honor its history, who with their work and talent contribute to its prosperity. Recognition Day of the Republic of Abkhazia embodies courage and heroism of the Abkhaz people and is a vivid testimony of selflessness and love for the Fatherland.”
Congratulating Foreign Minister of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev, Vitaly Ignatiev emphasized:
“August 26, 2008 is the most important date in the history of the State of Alania, a genuine Rubicon, which marked the beginning of a new life of the Ossetian people in harmony and peaceful creation.
The republic’s path to recognition of the state independence was not simple. Fourteen years have passed since that fateful moment when South Ossetia became the aggressor’s target. It is through the unity and courage of the South Ossetian population and with the support of the Russian Federation, that the country has defended the right to live on its land, to speak its native language and to build a peaceful future.”
