PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky took part in a plenary session of the PMR Supreme Council. One of the issues on the agenda was the statement of the Pridnestrovian parliamentarians, designed to bring the attention of the international community to the situation around Pridnestrovie, which the deputies described as volatile. Deputy Chairman Galina Antyufeyeva read out the text of the deputy statement, preliminarily noting that a meeting of the relevant parliamentary committee was held today, with the participation of the PMR Foreign Minister. Vitaly Ignatiev informed the deputies in detail about the state of affairs in foreign policy and the influence of geopolitical processes on the situation in Pridnestrovie.
“The deputies of the highest representative and legislative body of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, expressing the will of the multinational people of Pridnestrovie, responsibly declare that the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is an exclusively peace-loving state, committed to the principles of neutrality and the resolution of all conflicts through negotiations. We have never plotted aggression against neighboring countries or other members of the international community.
Throughout its history, Pridnestrovie has never given any reason to doubt our good-neighborly intentions, our openness to constructive and mutually respectful cooperation. Despite all the economic difficulties related to the current situation, Pridnestrovie has sheltered in its territory tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees and stands ready to provide all necessary assistance to people who find themselves in a difficult situation.
The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic stands firm in its position of unwavering support for negotiation methods in the process of settling relations with the Republic of Moldova, based on the opinion and will of the people. We also stand for a constructive dialogue with Ukraine, with which Pridnestrovie shares broad historical, ethnic, economic and cultural bonds.
Any statements by Ukrainian officials about the possibility of any aggressive actions by Pridnestrovie or by the Russian military personnel stationed on its territory are groundless.
Pridnestrovie firmly upholds the principle of peaceful coexistence and does not engage in any military preparations.
The PMR Supreme Council calls on the leadership of the neighboring Republic of Moldova to abandon any plans to militarize its state. We believe that unilateral attempts to change the existing balance of forces in the region are completely contrary to the goals of preserving and strengthening trust between the parties to the conflict and will not help to ensure peace and stability on the banks of the Dniester.
In this context, the Supreme Council, as well as the entire multinational people of Pridnestrovie, being supporters of peace and mutual understanding, calls on the leadership of neighboring states to assess the situation realistically, to show a balanced approach, to take into account the constructive position of Pridnestrovie and not to allow the tension to escalate in the common regional space”, reads the statement of the PMR Supreme Council, adopted by the parliamentarian body unanimously.
PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky supported the initiative of the people’s deputies, noting that the statement reflected the opinion of the Pridnestrovian people. The head of state stressed that Pridnestrovie’s stance of peacefulness and good neighborliness has persisted for decades. Vadim Krasnoselsky mentioned that the residents of neighboring states had been for a long time convinced that Pridnestrovie was a danger, creating a negative enemy image for the Ukrainian and Moldovan peoples. Vadim Krasnoselsky called the current accusations about the alleged preparations for military action in Pridnestrovie and the possibility of aggression against Ukraine false, provocative and unjustified, noting that it is impossible to hide such preparations. Vadim Krasnoselsky assured in the desire of Pridnestrovians to preserve peace and willingness to keep providing assistance to the citizens of Ukraine who need it.
“Ignorance of the situation is a matter of regret. For the past ten years, and even more, the people of both Ukraine and Moldova have been indoctrinated with the image of Pridnestrovie as an enemy, creating a bad image of the Pridnestrovian people for the world community. By and large, the leadership of Moldova and Ukraine have frightened their own people... Pridnestrovie, unfortunately, finds itself in a difficult situation, where we have to justify ourselves, to prove our peace-loving position. Basically, we all understand that everything broadcasted on the TV channels of Moldova and Ukraine is for the internal consumer, it’s not for us. The statements of some officials are alarming. However, our position will not change – peace on the Pridnestrovian land, peace around us. We are support and adhere to the negotiation process. For all the time of our existence, virtually for 32 years, we have shown how a multinational people should live in peace. We created the Pridnestrovian nation, which consists of 72 nationalities. Maybe this is what is annoying: an unrecognized state is an example and guarantor of peace, but the recognized ones couldn’t agree. This is why we stand by our positions, we don’t plot aggression against our neighbors, but we are certainly ready to defend ourselves in case of aggression against PMR, let no one doubt it,” said Vadim Krasnoselsky. The president called the statement adopted by the legislators important, emphasizing once again that it reflects the stance of the Pridnestrovian leadership and people.
The statement of the Supreme Council after the official signing procedure will be sent to the participants of the 5+2 format and spread through the media.
