The Foreign Ministry hosted the meeting between Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovakia to Moldova Pavol Ivan. This is the diplomat’s first visit to Pridnestrovie in his capacity as Ambassador.

In the course of the exchange, the sides discussed the current situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. Vitaly Ignatiev noted that the 2019 Slovakian OSCE Chairmanship hosted the last 5+2 meeting. Since then, a whole array of problems provoked by the actions of the Republic of Moldova has accumulated.

According to the Minister, the issues of goods importation into Pridnestrovie, primarily medicines and healthcare products, are particularly acute. The situation around the Moldovan metallurgical plant is also of serious concern, given that the decision on raw materials supply is temporary.

Furthermore, the Foreign Minister outlined current problems in the banking sector caused by the refusal of Moldovan commercial banks to provide services to Pridnestrovian enterprises and individuals, including currency exchange.

As part of the conversation, Vitaly Ignatiev stated that Pridnestrovie stands ready to engage in meaningful discussions and seek mutually acceptable solutions to the pressing issues of the negotiation process, while the Moldovan counterparts are ready only to imitate a dialogue.

During the meeting, the interlocutors addressed a number of other topics of mutual interest and agreed to maintain further communication.
