Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie Vitaly Ignatiev took questions from the journalist of the Italian news agency ANSA, Fabrizio Rostelli.

The reporter was interested in a broad range of topics related to the current situation around Pridnestrovie, the Moldova-Pridnestrovie settlement and the prospects for international developments in light of the ongoing geopolitical processes.

One of the questions was about a series of terrorist attacks in Pridnestrovie. Vitaly Ignatiev told about the investigation of these attacks, noting that while the traces of the perpetrators behind the series of attacks on the 25th and 26th of April lead to Ukraine, the attempted arson of the military commissariat in Tiraspol on the 13th of May involved the security structures of the Republic of Moldova. According to the Minister, the Pridnestrovian side officially invited the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Moldova to study the merits of the case, but no answer has been received so far.

“We want to establish the truth with as much transparency as possible. We believe that the Moldovan side should be interested in an open, democratic approach with regard to the investigation of this terrorist act. But so far we have not received any response from the Moldovan side,” Vitaly Ignatiev stressed.

In the course of the conversation, Vitaly Ignatiev elaborated on the current aspects of the negotiation process and shared his opinion on the prospects for settling relations between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. “We do believe that we’ve done everything during the past 30 years to come to an agreement with Chisinau. But the Moldovan side demonstrates its inability to negotiate. Therefore, today we need to arrive at new concrete conclusions. In this context, Pridnestrovie’s independence is the best way to resolve the conflict both for Moldova and for the world community, because no one can protect the rights and interests of Pridnestrovian residents better than the Pridnestrovian state,” the diplomat said.

With regard to the regional security, the Minister underscored the stabilizing role of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester which ensures peace and proper environment for the political dialogue. He also voiced Pridnestrovie’s concern about the militarization processes in Moldova noting the importance of avoiding any factors and actions that could increase tensions.
