On April 18, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a request to the head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, concerning the critical situation around Pridnestrovie’s key enterprise JSC Moldova Steel Works.
The Republic of Moldova continues to block the operation of the plant, in particular, by preventing the import of raw materials and the export of finished products both from the territory of Moldova and in transit through it. Restrictions by the Republic of Moldova may bring severe socio-economic consequences.
Given the existing agreements, Pridnestrovie proposed to hold urgent consultations at the level of the head of the EU delegation in order to work out sustainable mechanisms for resuming the plant's operation.
