Today, the Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting of Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev with the Head of the OSCE Mission Klaus Neukirch.
The interlocutors discussed the current state of the negotiation process and the prospects for organizing a series of meetings with regard to the appointment of a representative on political issues from the Republic of Moldova, as well as the next mandate extension of the OSCE CiO’s Special Representative. Vitaly Ignatiev outlined his vision of the Pridnestrovian side’s immediate priorities, confirming his interest in the strict fulfillment of the obligations of both sides provided for by the Berlin Plus package.
Meanwhile, emphasis was placed on the need for the speedy return of Pridnestrovian license plates and other Pridnestrovian cargo detained by Moldova’s customs authorities. The PMR Foreign Minister stressed the groundlessness of such restrictions and indicated the intention to discuss them in the existing formats during the next meetings.
The diplomat also expressed the fundamental interest of the Pridnestrovian side in restoring the activities of the 5+2 format, at the same time stating that the recent actions of the Republic of Moldova are not encouraging in this context.
For his part, the Head of the OSCE Mission expressed support for a direct dialogue between representatives on political issues, as well as at the level of expert (working) groups to resolve current issues of interaction, including the resumption of Vehicle Registration Points’ operation.
