Vadim Krasnoselsky met with Uldis Mikuts, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Moldova, in the office of the Head of the Pridnestrovian State. The previous communication is dated 2019. The sides noted that the pandemic and the rhythm of society’s life that it affected creates a feeling of a much longer absence of bilateral contacts.
The participants of the meeting discussed a wide range of issues, including the Pridnestrovian-Latvian relations in various humanitarian spheres and the functioning of the Permanent Conferences. Latvia is not a direct participant in the “5+2” format, but as a member of the European Union is closely monitoring the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, Uldis Mikuts noted.
Vadim Krasnoselsky shared the data necessary to understand the situation in the negotiation process, outlined the position of Pridnestrovie on topical issues, drew the interlocutor’s attention to the information about the ways proposed by the Pridnestrovian side to solve existing problems triggered by Moldova’s failure to fulfill its obligations.
The upcoming round of negotiations was discussed as well. The Stockholm meeting of the “5+2” participants is scheduled for early November.
