The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting of the PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev with the Co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Moldova Pierre-Alain Fridez and Inese Libina-Egnere. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of the PACE Monitoring Committee, Sylvie Affholder, and the head of the Council of Europe Mission to Moldova, William Massolin.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state of the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. Vitaly Ignatiev drew the Co-Rapporteurs' attention to the unilateral destructive actions of the Moldovan authorities, entailing restriction and violation of the rights of Pridnestrovian residents.
The problem of the ban on the entry and movement of Pridnestrovian vehicles on the territory of Ukraine from September 1, 2021was discussed. The Minister stressed the acute nature of this issue, noting that the restrictions initiated at the request of Moldova led to a number of acute humanitarian problems, including the inability of Pridnestrovian reanimobiles to travel to medical institutions in Ukraine and Russia to provide emergency medical care.
In addition, Vitaly Ignatiev informed PACE representatives about the obligations that the Moldovan side has failed to fulfill in the negotiation process in recent years. He also noted additional problems deliberately created by the Republic of Moldova in the banking and financial sector, in particular by blocking the accounts of Pridnestrovian enterprises, which hinders full-fledged foreign economic activity.
During the meeting, the Minister also answered the guests' questions concerning the epidemiological situation in the republic and the impact of the pandemic on the health system and the economy of Pridnestrovie.
Concluding the discussion, the parties expressed their readiness to continue the exchange of views on topical issues.
