On the Meeting of Field Experts in Motor Transport

10/06/21

Today, an online meeting of expert (working) groups on the transport and road development was held. The order for it was set out following the results of a recent meeting of political representatives.

Taking into account the urgency of the commercial cargo and passenger transportation problem and the willingness expressed by the Political Representative from the Republic of Moldova to start working out a comprehensive agreement aimed at its sustainable settlement, the Pridnestrovian side invited to begin negotiating on the parameters of the corresponding protocol solution based on proposals previously sent by the parties. However, experts from the Moldovan side refused to discuss the urgent issue at the current meeting, referring to the lack of a mandate and concrete proposals for its solution.

In this regard, the discussion within the meeting was limited to practical problems in the daily operation of Vehicle Registration Offices in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa, reflected in the joint protocol of October 7, 2020. As it turned out during the dialogue, the Moldovan side has not taken any steps to normalize the VROs' work in full compliance with the provisions of the Protocol Decision of April 24, 2018. Most of the problematic aspects related to the unreasonable requirements of the Republic of Moldova, violating the existing agreements, are still not eliminated, which prevents a significant number of interested Pridnestrovian car owners from accessing the mechanism.
