The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev and Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Yerkovich.
During the discussion, the parties touched upon the current state of affairs in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. The head of the PMR's Foreign Ministry outlined the existing restrictions due to the unsettled conflict between Moldova and Pridnestrovie that impede the normal life of citizens of the republic. The diplomat placed particular emphasis on the ban introduced from today by Ukraine, at the request of the Moldovan side, which does not allow the cars with Pridnestrovian plates to enter Ukraine and move through its territory. In this context, the interlocutors exchanged views on possible practical steps as to the protection of the rights and freedoms of the Pridnestrovian population, including the citizens of Belarus who live in the PMR.
The bilateral cooperation prospects were also discussed, including the implementation of joint project initiatives in various fields.
Concluding the conversation, Vitaly Ignatiev and Nikolai Yerkovich agreed to continue working contacts on the whole range of areas of mutual interest.
