A working meeting between the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin took place at the site of the lower chamber of the Russian parliament.
Saluting the interlocutor, the Head of the Pridnestrovian state highly appreciated the existing level of bilateral contacts and expressed gratitude to the Russian parliamentarian for constant attention to Pridnestrovians’ aspirations.
During the conversation, parties continued discussing practical steps aimed at protecting the rights and interests of Russian compatriots living in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. They noted the need for further work to create a legal mechanism that would simplify Russian citizenship acquisition for Pridnestrovian residents. Attention was paid to issues of consular and socio-economic support for the PMR’s population.
Vadim Krasnoselsky and Konstantin Zatulin exchanged views on the situation within regional security. In this context, the Pridnestrovian President emphasized there is no alternative to the existing peacekeeping format, which has for almost three decades proven its effectiveness and continues reliably ensuring peace and stability on the banks of the Dniester.
During the meeting, parties touched as well upon possible ways of realizing the existing cooperation potential between Pridnestrovie and Russia, including within trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, educational and other areas. Current trends in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement process were also discussed.
Interlocutors covered the results of the March 17 working meeting at the Duma site on Pridnestrovie and considered protocol implementation which was adopted during the meeting event.
