The Russian delegation is paying official mission visit to Pridnestrovie. It is headed by Vitaly Tryapitsyn, the Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, who represents Russia in the Pridnestrovian-Moldovan negotiation process. In this capacity, the Russian diplomat is visiting the republic for the first time, but in general, his visits to Pridnestrovie, as well as participation in the negotiations, are of a systemic nature. The delegation includes as well the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov, the Co-Chairman of the JCC from the Russian Federation Andrei Gorobtsov and Vitaly Tryapitsyn's assistant Arif Gadzhiev. The Head of the Pridnestrovian state Vadim Krasnoselsky received the Russians. The meeting took place at the site of the PMR President's Administration. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev is attending it as well.
Welcoming the guests, Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed gratitude for the constant attention to what is happening in Pridnestrovie and around its perimeter and stressed that he expects an open and productive dialogue. Vitaly Tryapitsyn, in turn, confirmed that Russia, as before, is determined to strictly fulfill its obligations. The Ambassador noted that he is well acquainted with all aspects of the negotiation process, recalling that he personally participated in the meeting of the "Permanent Conference ..." format in Bratislava and in the Bavarian Conference. The purpose of today's visit is to synchronize watches, analyze the issues that have accumulated during the idle time within the negotiations, assess their relevance, outline ways of solving existing problems, the Russian diplomat said. At the same time, Vitaly Tryapitsyn emphasized that the meeting agenda is much broader than the negotiation sector: Russia and Pridnestrovie are linked by mutual relations in various areas that require constant monitoring and development, it was noted during the meeting.
Interlocutors discussed the prerequisites for the negotiation process suspension. At the same time, Vadim Krasnoselsky stressed that the dialogue has not reached a dead end but is in stagnation. They said that the slowdown began in mid-2019 - from the moment the coalition in Moldova created and since negotiators have changed. As for the coronavirus pandemic, it undoubtedly aggravated the situation but, in the opinion of the PMR President, it is not the root cause of the dialogue freezing. The PMR President outlined the way Pridnestrovie view the situation and emphasized that the facts he stated is not criticism, but an attempt to understand the situation itself and find a way out of it.
The sides exchanged views, discussed a set of practical proposals and outlined ways for further interaction.
