Vadim Krasnoselsky Met with Klaus Neukirch

The first meeting of the Head of the Pridnestrovian state with the Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova took place at the site of Pridnestrovian President’s Administration. Welcoming Klaus Neukirch, Vadim Krasnoselsky thanked the guest for the visit and expressed hope that in the coming year, unlike in 2020, the pandemic will not have a negative impact on the negotiation process. The PMR’s President emphasized that society’s life should absolutely not depend on circumstances associated with the virus spread. “Society must subdue the pandemic, not adapt to it instead,” Vadim Krasnoselsky is sure. He said that there’s no way for coronavirus or electoral processes (that were often used last year as a justification for the negotiation process slow down) could be able to affect existing agreements implementation and new ones’ achievement. The Pridnestrovian President stated the need to intensify the activities of Working Groups, as well as the format of the "Permanent meeting ..." in general. according to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the agenda should contain practical issues but not slogans, appeals and empty promises. “Politicians must work for results,” Vadim Krasnoselsky stressed. His current interlocutor adheres to this position as well. Klaus Neukirch noted that the OSCE's activities are aimed at solving practical problems. He noted the importance of a direct dialogue with the participants in the negotiation process, highly appreciated the working conversation held the day before with the Head of Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry (Vitaly Ignatiev attended the meeting as well), noted the OSCE representatives’ readiness for productive interaction, spoke about the "5 + 2" format Expert (Working) Groups meetings planned for the near future. The Head of Mission stated as well the probability for Pridnestrovie to be imminently visited by the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Thomas Mayr-Harting and Ann Linde, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, who is chairing the OSCE this year.

Meeting participants discussed a wide range of pressing topical issues on the negotiating agenda. At the moment, the "Berlin +" package of agreements is the basis for discussing the stated topics.
