Today, after a half-year break took place a video format meeting of representatives on political issues from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova, Vitaly Ignatiev and Olga Cebotari.
During the conversation, parties discussed a number of upcoming events within the framework of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement with a special emphasis on possible mechanisms for restoring the functionality and rhythm of the "5 + 2" international format work according to the negotiation process’ principles and procedures.
As a follow-up to the discussion, took place a thorough exchange of views on the current situation in the implementation of previously reached agreements within the Berlin Plus package, including on such issues as vehicles, telecommunication and criminal cases. In this context, the Pridnestrovian side declared its commitment to the existing agreements’ implementation and emphasized it is being fully fulfilling its obligations.
The Pridnestrovian representative initiated discussions on the topic of Pridnestrovian enterprises that open bank accounts; issues related to blocking import into the PMR of a number of goods categories were additionally touched upon. It was particularly emphasized that it is inadmissible introducing the so-called "second phase" of joint customs and border control until all related problematic aspects are settled.
Meeting participants agreed to intensify the activities of specialized Expert (Working) Groups. A number of such meetings are planned to be held this week. The Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Thomas Mayr-Harting’s visit to Pridnestrovie and Moldova is also being expected the next week.
