The Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky met with Alexander Pankin, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation at the Reception House of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The event took place in a working breakfast format. Vitaly Ignatiev, the Head of the Foreign Ministry and Alexei Polishchuk, Director of the Second Department of the CIS Countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry together with his deputy Alexander Kondakov attended the meeting as well.
Welcoming the diplomats, Vadim Krasnoselsky highly appreciated the existing level of working contacts in various areas of bilateral cooperation and thanked as well the Russian side for the systematic support for Pridnestrovie and the efforts made in the field of security and peacekeeping activities.
Participants exchanged views on a wide range of issues. One of the main topics of communication was the current situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. A mutual concern was expressed on the ongoing stagnation of the dialogue between the parties, associated with a significant drop as in its dynamics, so in its effectiveness at all levels.
An important topic of the meeting was discussing issues of consular services for Russian citizens living in Pridnestrovie in the context of difficult pandemic circumstances.
Interlocutors paid special attention to the topical aspects of the peacekeeping operation functioning on the Dniester. In this context, the sides noted the unconditional effectiveness of the mission, speaking out in support of the existing peacekeeping mechanism and its stable unhindered work.
During the meeting, the parties dwelt in detail on practical initiatives related to expanding the areas of Russian-Pridnestrovian bilateral cooperation, assistance to Russian citizens and compatriots living in Pridnestrovie.
Ending the meeting, the sides agreed to continue regular working communication and confirmed their openness to interact on the entire spectrum of topical issues on the current agenda.
