A video conference of expert (working) groups on transport and road facilities was held today. Representatives of mediators and observers participated as well.
During the discussion, parties decided to resume issuing the agreed registration certificates and neutral license plates at the Vehicle Registration Offices in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa from October 1, 2020. At the initial stage, the sides agreed that VROs will operate in a limited number but if a significant demand and if the situation with COVID-19 pandemic gets to normal, the number of parties’ representatives within VRO will be increased to the standard level provided for by the April 24, 2018 Protocol Decision.
The Pridnestrovian side initiated considering the long-standing problematic aspects that hinder Registration Points’ effective functioning. In particular, special attention was paid to driving licenses issues and to vehicles that belong to Pridnestrovian carriers being admitted to registration in the VRO. Back in 2019, Pridnestrovie presented detailed initiatives on both issues, while the Moldovan side refuses to consider them in essence, thereby reducing the VRO mechanism’s functionality.
At the same time, representatives of the Republic of Moldova announced the work on resolving the artificially created problem with the RT form to be at the final phase. The parties also agreed on the mechanism for admitting trailers to registration at VRO in the coming weeks.
