01/29/20

The Pridnestrovian delegation led by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky arrived to the Russian capital. The first meeting as part of a working visit was held at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Reception House. Vadim Krasnoselsky discussed issues relevant to Pridnestrovie with Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko. The meeting was also attended by the Pridnestrovian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev, the Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador-at-Large Sergey Gubarev, the Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs Second Department for CIS Countries Director Alexey Polishchuk and his Deputy Vitaly Tryapitsyn.

Welcoming diplomats, Vadim Krasnoselsky thanked the Russian side for the systematic support of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in many areas and praised the efforts of the Russian Federation as guarantor country in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian negotiation process.

During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on the current situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova and expressed mutual concern about the dynamics decrease which affected the negotiations effectiveness. According to the Head of State, the deterioration of the situation is due to the fact that Chisinau refuses to fulfill its obligations and implements pressure measures towards the PMR.

The Pridnestrovian side informed its Russian colleagues about the Republic Moldova’s recent attempt to restrict movement for vehicles from Pridnestrovie, and about the fact that Chisinau continues to block a number of Pridnestrovian enterprises use accounts in Moldovan banks. All these actions, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky, clearly demonstrate Moldova’s unwillingness to conduct a dialogue in an adequate and constructive way.

The meeting participants exchanged views on the prospects for the negotiation process in 2020. The need for practical implementation of previously reached agreements and the resolution of acute problematic aspects in relations between Moldova and Pridnestrovie was also discussed.

As part of the communication, Vadim Krasnoselsky and Andrey Rudenko discussed in detail the existing opportunities to develop bilateral cooperation between Russia and Pridnestrovie. Issues related to simplifying the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship for Pridnestrovian residents and the intensification of Russian-Pridnestrovian interagency cooperation were raised.
