Vadim Krasnoselsky and Vitaly Ignatiev discussed the situation in the negotiation process. The main issue of the working meeting was the situation within restrictive measures initiated by Moldova towards Pridnestrovian vehicles. The Head of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry confirmed the fulfillment of the President’s order to inform through diplomatic channels all the 5 + 2 format participants about mirror measures with specified dates that Pridnestrovie is to take if necessary.
Moldova announced the review of its position as a reaction to the statement. After a telephone conversation between the two republics’ leaders the Moldovan government released a message on restrictions suspension. The PMR Foreign Minister informed the President that the relevant departments keep the situation under control. Practice shows that at the moment, Pridnestrovian drivers freely cross the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. At the same time, Vitaly Ignatiev focused on the fact that the Moldovan restrictions were not lifted but suspended. In this regard, Vadim Krasnoselsky instructed to carry out constant monitoring of the situation, and immediately respond in case the Moldovan side violates the stated obligations. “This is fundamental and extremely important. Since Moldova has not abolished, but suspended this form of discrimination against Pridnestrovian citizens, Pridnestrovie, by analogy, suspends mirror measures against Moldovan citizens. If Moldova lifts the restrictions, we abolish ours as well. If they suspend, then we suspend. We must carefully monitor the events development and immediately respond to any changes within the situation,” the PMR President emphasized.
Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that, all other urgent issues of the negotiation agenda should not fade into the background against the backdrop of problems caused by Moldova’s attempts to introduce restrictions on Pridnestrovian vehicles movement. Attention towards should not diminish, the PMR President aimed. He called on the head of the MFA to keep under control the issues of bank accounts of Pridnestrovian enterprises closed by Moldova, the implementation of telecommunication agreement, and the cessation of all politically motivated criminal cases against Pridnestrovian officials. “We must constantly monitor the situation, monitor the implementation of Moldova's earlier commitments. Moldovan President Igor Dodon has repeatedly stated that he will solve the banking problem and that closed accounts of Pridnestrovian enterprises will be opened. But today the words are at odds with the case,” Vadim Krasnoselsky said, further underlining that the Pridnestrovian enterprises accounts are still blocked, the list of criminal cases supposed to be ceased by the Moldovan side has not been submitted. It is the second year that the issue in the field of telecommunication remains unresolved. The Moldavian side promised to solve this problem no later than March 1: Igor Dodon personally set the deadline, Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled.
The interlocutors discussed the Moldovan vice prime minister statement about the restrictive measures that Ukraine, allegedly, is to introduce towards Pridnestrovian vehicles from April 1. However, this information had no official confirmation from Ukraine. Vitaly Ignatiev informed about the comprehensive work which is being carried out through the diplomatic line to prevent the development of a negative situation. According to the minister, in the near future as part of contacts with Ukrainian diplomats some events are planned. During the upcoming visit of the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office this issue discussing is expected.
Vadim Krasnoselsky noted at his turn that Mr. Chicu is a Moldovan official and obviously, is not authorized to make decisions and make statements on behalf of the Ukrainian leadership. The PMR President considers it necessary to draw the attention of all the “Permanent Meeting ...” format participants to what is happening. Vitaly Ignatiev was instructed to address them for assessing this fact. The work in this area continues.
