Representatives from a number of authorities listened today to topical lectures delivered by the Russian Institute of Strategic Research (RISI) at the Palace of the Republic. Presentations were made by Vladimir Kozin, Adviser to the RISI Director and Associate Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Vladimir Novikov, Deputy Head of the RISI Centre for Defence Studies, and Sergey Ermakov, Chief of the Section for Regional Security Issues of the Centre for Defence Studies at the RISI. Speakers addressed to the problems of nuclear terrorism, touched upon aspects of European security strengthening and revealed features of the approach of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on European and global security. During the lectures researchers also voiced their own opinion on the current peacekeeping operation on the Dniester.
