According to the Press Service of the President of PMR, today President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk received Director of the Institute of the CIS countries, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the I, IV, V convocations Konstantin Zatulin. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski also took part in the meeting.
The main question to which interlocutors paid a lot of their attention was about the plans concerning the future development of the branch of the Institute of the CIS countries in Pridnestrovie. Let us remember that the branch of the Institute of the CIS countries was opened in February of 2010 and has been functioning for two and a half years already. Now, as the Director of the Institute of the CIS countries says, a new stage is coming and “the branch of the Institute of the CIS countries in Pridnestrovie should considerably intensify its activity”. Konstantin Zatulin also expressed to the President of the PMR his own vision of the future functioning of the scientific research establishment. After the meeting it was underlined that the Head of State had shown understanding and consent in the emphasized questions.
“It is very important for us to activate the work of the branch,” noted Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski. “The Head of State thinks that this work is extremely important for the popularization of our national ideas in the Russia Federation and also for the involvement of the academic society representatives of Russia into the scientific and social activity in Pridnestrovie. Nina Shtanski assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will render complex support to a good functioning of the branch of the Institute of the CIS countries. “Konstantin Zatulin is an old friend of Pridnestrovie. He is a fighter for the rights of his compatriots, and we are glad to see that nowadays this partnership is maintained and becomes more active. There are many interesting ideas about it, and I hope that soon we will see the results”, the Minister said.
During the meeting with the President of Pridnestrovie, there was exchange of views regarding the process of the Moldo-Pridnestrovian settlement. Konstantin Zatulin recalled that on the eve of the Proclamation Day of Pridnestrovie's Independence the President of the Russian Federation “not accidentally said that the Pridnestrovian people have to decide their destiny themselves”. “Any choice of Pridnestrovie will be respectfully accepted by the Russia Federation”, concluded Director of the Institute of the CIS countries, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the I, IV, V convocations Konstantin Zatulin.
In the context of the meeting, the President of Pridnestrovie expressed gratitude to Konstantin Zatulin for the representatives of the Institute of the CIS countries who came to share the joy on the occasion of the 22nd Anniversary of the foundation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Konstantin Zatulin himself expressed regret that he couldn't take part in solemn events. At the same time, according to him, today he “came to Pridnestrovie to prove once again that friends never forget about Pridnestrovie wherever they are”.
