Nina Shtanski met with the UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova

Today, Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation - Minister of Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski held a meeting with UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova Dafina Gercheva who visited Tiraspol for the first time today since her appointment.

In her welcoming remarks, Nina Shtanski expressed hope for further constructive and partnership dialogue which was traditionally formed between Pridnestrovie and the institutions of the UN. The minister highlighted that the development of relations with the United Nations is one of the important directions of the foreign policy of the republic.

“Our cooperation is developing in quite sensitive areas - improvement of social infrastructure, health system of Pridnestrovie, combating the spread of such hazards as AIDS, tuberculosis, drug addiction, help to people with disabilities. All of this - a very large and important sector of work that your colleagues from the United Nations Development Programme, UNICEF, WHO and other agencies conduct. We very much appreciate this contribution”, - said Nina Shtanski.

Dafina Gercheva stressed that the activity of the United Nations in Pridnestrovie would continue to focus on improving the welfare of citizens. In the course of communication with the media after the meeting, she emphasized that the UN would also assist the implementation of the projects aimed at the introduction of inclusive education, conducting de-institutionalization of the trusteeship system, and further support for the implementation of the recommendations of T. Hammarberg.

The sides highly appreciated the UN agencies projects implemented in Pridnestrovie and expressed interest in expanding cooperation on important socially significant areas.
