Today, the meeting of expert (working) groups on the development of transport and road facilities in the presence of representatives on political issues of Pridnestrovie and Moldova Nina Shtanski and Viktor Osipov resulted in preliminary agreement on the full text of the Protocol Decision on the mechanism of cooperation of insurance entities of the Republic of Moldova and Pridnestrovie under the civil liability insurance contracts.

As informed by Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski during the briefing for the media following the meeting, as a result of signing the document the parties will be able to untie a serious knot of contradictions whose history dates back to 2006. “Today, we had to reconsider some provisions of the document twice and maybe even three times, again and again, but as a result, in my opinion, a balanced, working, and viable mechanism was obtained. We have agreed that we will inform the leadership of the parties about the arrangements reached preliminarily. The document has been initialed by us, on the back of each sheet we have put our signatures what indicates that only the issue on the date, place and format of the signing has not been yet agreed upon”, - said the diplomat.

According to the foreign minister, the document defines a mechanism for mutual recognition of insurance policies of the compulsory civil liability insurance issued by auto insurance entities of Pridnestrovie and Moldova. Thus, the Pridnestrovian car owners will be able to acquire policies in Pridnestrovie and they will be protected by them in the territory of the Republic of Moldova: having the Pridnestrovian insurance policy and if an insured event occurs in the territory of the Republic of Moldova an insurance case will be formed, and all documents are planned to be transmitted to a Pridnestrovian insurance entity to fulfil  its obligations for compensation payments to the victim or a third party. Accordingly, in the event of signing the document, the car owners of the Republic of Moldova will not have to acquire an insurance policy in Pridnestrovie.

“The main task in developing the document was to take into account the interests of both parties, to ensure that an owner of the insurance policy obtained in Pridnestrovie could fully feel protected in the territory of the Republic of Moldova and vice versa”, - said Nina Shtanski while interacting with the media.

Information about the time, place and format of the signing of the Protocol Decision will be announced additionally.

In the event of signing the document expert (working) groups on the development of transport and road facilities with the participation of representatives of the insurance entities of the parties it will be necessary by May 10 to agree on the mechanism of interaction (including in terms of information exchange) between the insurance entities of Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
