Today during the working visit to Moscow Acting Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev had a meeting with Chairman of the State Duma Committee for International Affairs of the Russian Federation Aleksei Pushkov.

During the meeting the sides discussed the existing international and regional factors, having a negative impact on the situation in Pridnestrovie. In this regard, Vitaly Ignatiev outlined a wide range of challenges and threats faced by Pridnestrovie at present, including the refusal of RM’s representatives of meaningful dialogue with Pridnestrovie contrary to the declared readiness for substantive work, as well as ongoing attempts to undermine the foundations of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester. Special attention was paid to politically biased decision of Moldova and Ukraine on the establishment of joint customs and border control on the Ukrainian-Pridnestrovian border at the checkpoint “Kuchurgan”. The head of the foreign ministry of the PMR placed special emphasis on a whole range of negative effects of the possible implementation of this confrontational scenario.

During the dialogue, the two sides exchanged opinions on politically motivated criminal cases initiated by the Prosecutor's office of Moldova against the citizens of Pridnestrovie. Vitaly Ignatiev handed the Russian parliamentarian the edition published by the PMR's MFA “Instruments to put pressure on Pridnestrovie in Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement: a politically motivated prosecution of Pridnestrovian citizens by Moldova”.

The interlocutors also discussed a number of specific areas of Russian-Pridnestrovian cooperation, following which the State Duma Committee for International Affairs could provide support.

At the end of the meeting the sides agreed to maintain the dynamics of bilateral contacts.
