On August 29, 2014 Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson Radojko Bogojević and Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrei Ivanovich Veselovsky made an official visit to Pridnestrovie.
During the consultations, the main issue was the prospects of the next meeting of the “Permanent Conference ...” in Vienna on the dates planned – on 10-11 September this year.
The Pridnestrovian side stated the impossibility of conducting the substantive dialogue in the conditions of application of repressive measures and methods of blackmail by the Republic of Moldova against Pridnestrovie, expressed by prosecutions of Pridnestrovian officials, including the initiation of about 15 new criminal cases this year alone. Within the framework of the meetings held the Pridnestrovian side also informed international mediators of its concern regarding the sale of frequency range by the RM traditionally used by the Pridnestrovian operators providing services in the field of telecommunications.
Given to the unprecedented pressure put on one of the sides of the negotiation process, which is contrary to a number of previously reached agreements, and taking into account the absence of any draft documents developed by the sides that could form the basis for substantive discussions within the meeting of “5+2” format, Pridnestrovie informed the Special Representative of the OSCE Representative on its unwillingness to take part in a meeting of the “Permanent conference ...” within the timeframe proposed.
However, the Pridnestrovian side took the initiative to hold additional consultations of the parties of the “5+2” format in Pridnestrovie and Moldova in order to find a sustainable compromise solutions to the existing and newly arising problematic aspects, particularly on the issue of politically motivated, according to Pridnestrovie, criminal cases.
Pridnestrovie proposed to use the high potential of diplomacy, including the shuttle one, through the organization of meetings with relevant experts-lawyers and with Pridnestrovie’s officials themselves, which are prosecuted in Moldova, in order to find effective ways to address the problems in this and other areas.
The Press Service of the Foreign Ministry of the PMR emphasizes that this initiative considered in Pridnestrovie as the best way to resolve the existing contradictions, in no way does not mean abandoning the negotiations in the format of the “Permanent Conference ...”, and expresses the hope that the proposal will be supported by the partners of Pridnestrovie in the format “5+2”.
