On the Meeting of the Leadership of the PMR’s MFA with the Delegation of French Diplomats

On May 3, 2012 Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR saw a meeting between deputy Head of Foreign Office Vitaly Ignatiev and the delegation of Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of France. The delegation included the Ambassador of France in the Republic of Moldova Gerard Guillonneau, Head of Department of Continental Europe of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of France Eric Fournier and Authorized Representative on the Relations with Moldova in Department of Russia and Eastern Europe of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of France Jacques Lajoie.

During the negotiation the sides exchanged opinions on the dynamic of Moldova-Pridnestrovie dialogue, discussed the issues of economical development of Pridnestrovie. French diplomats also took an interest in the position of the Russian Federation in the process of Moldova-Pridnestrovie settlement and the outcomes of a recent visit of Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation on Pridnestrovie Dmitry Rogozin.

In his turn Eric Fournier told about current processes which are taking place in France, connected, in particular, with the Presidential election. He also noticed, that France as the member of the OSCE is interested in optimization of the negotiation process between Kishinev and Tiraspol. He expressed satisfaction with positive events within the framework of Moldova-Pridnestrovie settlement, in particular, with the fact of the resumption of full-scale railroad communication through Pridnestrovie on April 26, 2012.

During the meeting Vitaly Ignatiev told about the outcomes of Vienna round of consultations in 5+2 format and elucidated the basic aspects of political dialogue between Moldova and Pridnestrovie.

Answering the questions of the journalists, Pridnestrovian diplomat emphasized the presence of stable interest shown by France towards the situation within the framework of settlement of Moldova-Pridnestrovie relations and towards the processes within Pridnestrovie. Commenting upon bilateral interaction in socio-humanitarian sphere, Vitaly Ignatiev marked, that France is active participant and donor of a whole range of projects, which are implemented in Pridnestrovie on the line of the European Union and the Council of Europe.
