Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev told about it during a special interview to the Russia 24 TV Channel, commenting on the strengthening of the blockade measures against Pridnestrovie from neighbouring countries
“Unfortunately, the practice of pressure on the citizens of Pridnestrovie has become the norm. It is difficult to say what Moldova is seeking for by introducing a total blockade of the republic, what favour from Pridnestrovians the RM has reached over the years by creating problems to our population in matters of freedom of movement. In such circumstances, there could be no question of a constructive dialogue or trust, because it is clear that such actions are intended to create a sense of discomfort to the residents of the republic, to force Pridnestrovie to give up their positions,” - stated the diplomat.
Vitaly Ignatiev also noted that the Moldovan side, dodging the dialogue with Pridnestrovie within the framework of the negotiation process, synchronizes with Ukraine the blockade actions against Pridnestrovie. In this context, the diplomat reminded the decisions taken by the Ukrainian authorities, which limit not only the freedom of movement of Pridnestrovian citizens with Russian citizenship, but delivery of excisable goods to the republic, as well as import of goods on the whole. The head of the Foreign Ministry stressed that the establishment of joint customs and border control on the border with Pridnestrovie at the checkpoint “Kuchurgan” planned by Moldova and Ukraine can be the next blockade measure.
Answering a reporter's question about the possible format of integrated settlement of relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, Vitaly Ignatiev said that the opinion of the people is the key basis on this matter.
“Pridnestrovie has proposed its formula for resolving the conflict – a civilized divorce with the Republic of Moldova, based on the will of the people, reflected in the results of the 2006 referendum. To ensure that the will of the people was taken into account, we can hold another referendum under the auspices of the international partners, such as the United Nations,” - concluded Vitaly Ignatiev.
