Vitaly Ignatiev met with Alexander Vataman, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the PMR

The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting of Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev with Alexander Vataman, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the PMR.

Welcoming the interlocutor, Vitaly Ignatiev appreciated the interaction with the Official Representation of the Republic of Abkhazia, noting traditional interest of Pridnestrovie in intensifying contacts with Abkhazia in all areas.

During the discussion, Vitaly Ignatiev stressed that the meeting was taking place on the day of the 10th anniversary of the Decree of the President of the PMR on opening of the Official Representation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the Republic of Abkhazia.

In this context Alexander Vataman emphasized importance of work, which the Representation is doing, and stated that “cooperation between the two countries has reached a fundamentally new level since 2007”. “Functioning of the Representation of Pridnestrovie in Abkhazia enables us to provide additional logistical support and assistance in terms of various projects and proposals. This is an effective tool to solve many problems” – said Alexander Vataman.

During the dialogue the sides exchanged views on topical issues of bilateral cooperation in various fields, including interdepartmental communication and joint projects in the social and humanitarian sphere. The Head of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry also expressed his opinion on signing of an updated treaty of friendship and cooperation between Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie.

At the end of the meeting the sides agreed to support active cooperation on all the issues of mutual interest.
