“Conversation without Cuts”: the PMR’s MFA Opened a New Platform for Conversation of the Representatives of Mass Media

Today Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR saw first sitting of the Press Club “Conversation without Cuts”. As it was reported before, it is fundamentally new for the PMR's MFA form of interaction with Mass Media. Participating in the sitting were Head of foreign office Nina Shtanski, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev, the representatives of Pridnestrovian Mass Media and blogging community.

As it was reported by Nina Shtanski at the beginning of the sitting, the PMR's MFA strives for the most transparent informational politics. All the aspects of the activity of the Ministry are immediately reproduced on the official site of the PMR's MFA and in social networks – Facebook and Twitter.

Lively discussion on the most topical issues of foreign policy of Pridnestrovie began during the meeting. In particular, the issues concerning functioning of banking system, activity of domestic enterprises, and freedom of movement of people were touched upon. According to journalists, the population of the Republic does not always use official sources to learn the latest news and content oneself with rumors and deliberately distorted information. In this connection journalists paid attention to provocative utterances of certain Moldovan officials who disorient the community as regards true situation of Pridnestrovie-Moldova relations by the use of Mass Media.

The journalists also initiated the discussion of the promotion of positive image of Pridnestrovie in the world. According to the representatives of Mass Media, information about Pridnestrovie arouses keen interest not only in Russia but in far abroad countries; in this connection it is necessary to intensify work with journalistic communities of the two countries. Besides, the promotion of positive image was negatively affected by the absence of thought-out state strategy in given direction.

Nina Shtanski emphasized that in the project of Foreign Policy Concept prepared lately by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR the section of public information direction of foreign-policy activity is considerably broadened. Here national branding is recognized as one of the most important elements of external politics of the PMR.

In her turn, Nina Shtanski urged journalists to be more active while informing on the difficulties which our citizens and businessmen face because of unfavorable external factors. “We must articulate our problems loudly in order to be heard in the world,” Minister noticed.

During the discussion the PMR's MFA received propositions on the optimization of informational activity. Nina Shtanski promised that all propositions and remarks of the journalists will be taken into consideration. Minister assured the participants of the Press Club that the discussions of such kind in informal atmosphere would become a tradition.
