Pridnestrovian MFA is anxious about allegations by Deputy Director of Moldovan SIS about money laundering via Pridnestrovian banks. This was today stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski before the journalists at the close of the meeting with political representative from Moldova Yevgeny Karpov.

“We have officially inquired the Moldovan side to request information from relevant bodies in line of the political representative. If this statement was made in such categorical way, then apparently SIS of RM can share monstrous facts of criminal activity,” Nina Shtanski stated. The diplomat questioned the possibility for the words of one of the chiefs of security service of Moldova to be substantiated with real proof. According to Nina Shtanski, offensive accusations against Pridnestrovie and Pridnestrovian banking system are destructive. “These actions don't add positive impetus to the work which has been started today by representatives of banking structures of Moldova and Pridnestrovie,” she told. The Minister also stressed that such statements are contrary to the principles of negotiations which were agreed by the sides and violate order of cooperation which the sides have been trying to maintain in the course of the last nine months.

Nina Shtanski reminded that four months ago Pridnestrovie forwarded the Moldovan side its proposals about collaboration between the National Bank of RM and the Central Bank of Pridnestrovie. The Minister noted that there are no obstacles for making banking activity more transparent. “Today Pridnestrovie has developed legislation which is very strict in relation to money laundering and legalization of illegally obtained income,” she told. The Minister marked that Pridnestrovie has implemented current international standards and conventions regulating the order of interaction in the banking sphere all around the world. “First of all, I hope that today's meeting of bankers of Pridnestrovie and Moldova will clarify current situation. Moreover, I hope that the Moldovan side will respond to remarks which don't correspond to the spirit of partnership, decency and responsibility for the voiced words,” Nina Shtanski concluded.
