On 12-13 July 2016 Bad Reichenhall hosted a traditional annual Conference on confidence Building Measures co-organized by the Federal Government of Germany and the OSCE.
As part of the Conference subject discussions focused on usage of Pridnestrovian educational documents abroad, participation of Pridnestrovian vehicles in international movement and communication matters.
These important issues to be settled as stipulated in the Protocol of “Permanent Conference…” Berlin meeting were discussed with active mediation and support of 5+2 international participants. The subject sessions resulted in confirming practical significance of existing technical proposals to address the issues of motor transport and apostilization, as well as in noting the need for political impetus for the purpose of final approval of mutually acceptable arrangements in these spheres.
The Pridnestrovian side affirmed its traditional readiness to find a compromise as soon as possible if there is a real political will of the Moldovan side to adopt balanced constructive solutions that allow to remove existing diverse restrictions worsening socio-economic conditions of the population of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
The Pridnestrovian side informed all the participants of Conference about the severely deteriorating situation of the rail imports in Pridnestrovie and called for an early settlement of this problem on the basis of existing proposals elaborated by the expert group of Pridnestrovie on rail transport and communications.
The discussion on the above mentioned matters are expected to continue actively at different levels of the negotiation process.
At the Conference there was also an exchange of opinions on inadmissibility of joint customs and border Moldovan-Ukrainian control at Kuchurgan border crossing point. The discussion allowed to specify clearly the objective risks following the decision of Moldova and Ukraine made without considering the Pridnestrovie’s stand and being implemented unilaterally, outside the negotiation process. Talk participants agreed on the need for a detailed analysis of the situation, including at the level of competent experts.
Working (expert) groups of the parties and political representatives will continue their work on implementing provisions of the Berlin Protocol.
