Vitaly Ignatiev met with Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Lucy Joyce

The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev and Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Lucy Joyce.

During the meeting the sides discussed some topical issues of bilateral relations and exchanged opinions on the current situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. Vitaly Ignatiev estimated highly the existing level of contacts with the British Embassy and noted that complex interaction with Pridnestrovie confirms the interest of the British side to the processes taking place in and around the country. At the same time, according to the Head of the Foreign Ministry of the PMR, such a meaningful dialogue with foreign partners is in demand in Pridnestrovie.

“We are interested in international support in various areas and grateful for the attention of the British side to the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. We are convinced that having international support the parties will manage to solve the urgent social and humanitarian matters to improve the lives of people” – he stressed.

Discussing the current situation in negotiation process Vitaly Ignatiev said that the Pridnestrovian side is aimed at active dialogue at all levels. According to the diplomat, the agenda of talks has a significant amount of socio-economic problems, which complicate the lives of people and require urgent solution. The Foreign Minister also noted that substantial part of topical issues is reflected in the Berlin Protocol, signed at the meeting of the “Permanent Conference...” in June 2016. In this context, Vitaly Ignatiev stressed the need to keep implementing provisions of the document that requests a rhythmic work at the level of the “Permanent Conference...” in the 5+2 format and the proactive stand of international partners.

At the end of the meeting the sides agreed to support high dynamism of contacts on all issues of mutual interest.
