The PMR's MFA hosted the meeting between the heads of the PMR's ministries and the UN delegation. The UN delegation included United Nations Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Flavia Pansieri, Chief of the Europe and Central Asia Section Hulan Tsedev, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova Nicola Harrington-Buhay, Human Rights Adviser Claude Cahn, and OHCHR National Consultant on Legal Capacity Alina Grigoras. Other participants in the meeting from the Pridnestrovian side included Education Minister Svetlana Fadeeva, First Deputy Minister of Justice of Pridnestrovie, Head of the State Service for the Execution of Punishments Petr Zubreichuk, First Deputy Minister of Social Protection and Labour Elena Rusina, Head of Center on treatment services and social rehabilitation of the State Service for the Execution of Punishments of the Minister of Justice of Pridnestrovie Vyacheslav Pozdnyakov.
In the course of the meeting the participants discussed some aspects of the work on implementation of the recommendations proposed by UN Senior Expert for Human Rights in Pridnestrovie Thomas Hammarberg. In particular, Svetlana Fadeeva informed the participants that earlier, according to the instructions from the PMR's President, an inter-ministerial working group had been established for examination and generalization of the expert's recommendations; it prepared a Plan on implementation of the recommendations by the international expert. The document was approved by the Order of the President of the PMR on November last year.
Flavia Pansieri noted the special attention which had been paid by Pridnestrovie to the Report by Thomas Hammarberg and the implementation of his recommendations. “I acquainted with the progress that had been made, and I would like to welcome the positive steps which had been taken for implementation of the recommendations,” – said the Head of UN delegation. At the same time, according to her, a number of problems remains which requires more work. “The main thing is to keep up the pace. Keep moving forward and do not stop,”- concluded Flavia Pansieri.
