Problems of Functioning of Pridnestrovian Banks Were Discussed at the Pridnestrovian MFA

Today, leadership of the Pridnestrovian MFA and authorized representatives of the Committee for State Security of the PMR held the meeting with the delegation of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova headed by Political-Economic Section Chief of the Embassy Gregory Winstead.



In the course of the meeting the Pridnestrovian side voiced its concern in connection with destructive accusations by the leadership of the Information and Security Service against banking system of the PMR as regards its involvement in “money laundering” operations. As it was stressed, these accusations are unsubstantiated and provocative. PMR's MFA, “Such insinuations don't contribute to strengthening of the atmosphere of trust and don't promote constructive dialogue of the sides aimed at resolution of pressing socio-economic issues”.



Pridnestrovian representatives also expressed their concern about refusal of a number of U.S. banks to maintain correspondent accounts of Pridnestrovie. Such actions create obstacles for Pridnestrovian banks in carrying out international financial transactions. Representatives of U.S. Embassy expressed understanding of the pressing character of the specified problems.



In the course of the meeting, interlocutors discussed also a number of other issues of mutual interest.
