A meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Igor Shornikov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the PMR Inna Linnik and the Pridnestrovian youth, as well as Russian guests was held today as part of the International Youth Forum “25 years together with Russia” dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

During his speech Igor Shornikov touched upon several aspects of foreign policy directions of the state policy of Pridnestrovie. In particular, the diplomat spoke about the socio-economic and information blockade by the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, turned attention to the background of the matter and the assistance provided by the Russian Federation in overcoming the consequences of the multi-year blockade.

The participants also talked about the referendum held in the republic in 2006. “We will not change our priorities, our people voted for independence and the subsequent joining to Russia,” - said Igor Shornikov. Within the existing circumstances, according to the diplomat, Pridnestrovians need to maintain the consolidation and prevent the “society to be broken up into the opposition forces.” “When the society is united, it is impossible to overpower it. When it is split up, it is manipulated as one pleases. We cannot be manipulated much as one would like to, even in such a difficult situation,”- said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

At the meeting Inna Linnik, in her turn, touched upon current challenges and prospects for the country's economic development at that stage. In particular, she focused on the negative external factors faced by Pridnestrovie today.

“Pridnestrovie has the enormous potential, and only by uniting, suggesting and deciding together all the complex issues we will continue to develop our economy. We did not get into the crisis today. The Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic has been living in difficult conditions for all 25 years old. We live, raise our children, and we will develop our country to the last,”- said the Deputy Minister of Economic Development.

During the discussion participants of the forum also asked the guests questions regarding relations with Russia, Ukraine and the European Union, and awareness of the foreign audience about the situation in Pridnestrovie. In conclusion, the members of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry presented a number of publications issued under the auspices and direct involvement of the Foreign Ministry.
