Igor Petrovich Shornikov, born on July 20, 1978 in Kishinev city (Moldavian SSR).
In 2001 he graduated cum laude from the History Faculty of T. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University.
In November 2011 he has successfully presented a thesis for a Candidate of Historical Sciences degree.
He was a lecturer at the Department of World History, the Department of National History and the Department of History of the PMR, T. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University from August 2001 till January 2013.
He is an author of more than 20 scientific papers including issues of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement.
Since December 2001 till April 2007 he was the Senior Expert-Correspondent at Olvia-Press Information Agency, Ministry of Information and Telecommunication of the PMR.
He has been staying in the diplomatic service since May 2007.
In January 2009 he was appointed to the position of the Deputy Head of the Department for Information Support of the Foreign Policy Activities.
In June 2011 he was conferred diplomatic rank of the Second Secretary of the I-st Class.
His appointment in the position of the Head of the Department for Public Communications and Information-Technical Support was confirmed in February 2012.
Under Decree of the President of the PMR no. 219 from June 8, 2016, he was conferred a diplomatic rank of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy of second class.
He was decorated with Medals “For Labour Distinction”, “20 years of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic” and “For Labour Merit”.
Married, has two daughters.
