On the Beginning of the Regular Meeting of the Permanent Conference on Political Issues in the Pridnestrovian Settlement Process

The regular, the first in this year, negotiation round of the Permanent Conference starts today, on February 18, 2013 in Lvov (Ukraine) under the OSCE Chairmanship of Ukraine.



During the visit to Kishinev and Tiraspol on February 5-7, 2013 Andrey Deshchitsa, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, has announced new approach of the Chairmanship-in-Office to arranging of the agenda of forthcoming meetings under 5+2 talks in this year. Issues for discussion will be chosen proceeding from the mutual interests of parties to a conflict – Pridnestrovie and Moldova, i. e. items on the agenda that were agreed for discussion by parties.



On February 12 a. c. the MFA of Ukraine issued press statement expecting the meeting within the Permanent Conference which starts today. It was noted in the press statement that agenda including “three baskets” was agreed on April 18 2012 and it will be further discussed during negotiations. In the course of the meeting parties intend to focus on discussion of the first and the second baskets, i. e. socio-economic and humanitarian issues.



Ukrainian Chairmanship announced traditional press briefing following the results of two-day meetings under participation of Andrey Deshchitsa, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office as well as political representatives of Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova Nina Shtanski and Yevgeny Karpov.
