Today Acting Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev received the delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Finland in Romania and the Republic of Moldova headed by Ambassador Päivi Pohjanheimo, made her first visit to Pridnestrovie.

During the meeting the sides discussed some aspects of the current situation in the relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, in particular in the context of the current problems and prospects of the negotiation process. Vitaly Ignatiev drew the attention of the Ambassador of Finland to the fact that to date Moldova is actually sabotaging the interaction between the parties at all levels of the negotiation structure. According to the Head of the Foreign Ministry, the RM’s representatives have skirted the dialogue with the Pridnestrovian side for a few months, along with that, increasing the pressure on Pridnestrovie in all areas.

According to Vitaly Ignatiev, a good example confirming the non-constructive position of the Republic of Moldova was the resumption of the practice of politically motivated criminal cases in 2014 against members of authorities, business and ordinary citizens of the PMR, which led to a significant reduction in trust between Pridnestrovie and Moldova.

“It must be noted that today we are talking about the comprehensive pressure on Pridnestrovie through the introduction of a package of restrictive measures in the sphere of economy, transport, railway communication, freedom of movement of citizens. It is obvious that under such a diverse and massive pressure it is extremely difficult to implement positive interaction within the framework of the negotiation process, because it is impossible to build an atmosphere of trust only by “nice statements”, while the real issues that affect the well-being of the population of Pridnestrovie remain and multiply,” - said acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR.

The head of the Pridnestrovian diplomacy highlighted that such unilateral actions that destroy the atmosphere of trust, that are contrary to the spirit and logic of negotiation, should receive appropriate evaluation from all participants in the international negotiation format.
