The Parliamentary Committee on Legislation suggests that the session of the PMR’s Supreme Soviet should ratify an Agreement on mutual visa-free trips for the citizens of Pridnestrovie, South Ossetia and Abkhazia

Today, a session of the Parliamentary Committee on Legislation has been held in the Supreme Soviet of the PMR. The deputies reviewed the draft bill “On ratification of an Agreement on mutual visa-free trips for the citizens of the states-members of the Community “For Democracy and People's Rights””. The corresponding legislation was initiated by the PMR's President Igor Smirnov.

The advisor of the International Legal Department of the MFA Tatiana Marenkova participated in the session of the Committee.

Upon reviewing the draft law, the deputies reached a favourable conclusion on it. The Committee will recommend that the session of the Supreme Soviet approve legislative initiative of the Head of the State.

Agreement on mutual visa-free trips was signed during the summit of the heads of the states of the Community “For Democracy and People's Rights”. It stipulates that the citizens of the states-members of the Community have the right to enter freely the territory of Pridnestrovie, South Ossetia and Abkhazia, as well as to leave these countries on showing the document proving their citizenship of one of these republics. Moreover, they do not have to pay migration, customs, insurance, registration and other kinds of fees levied on the border. The duration of this Agreement is 5 years and each time afterwards it will automatically be extended for the next 5 years. After its validation, other countries may join it upon consent of all the parties.
