Nina Shtanski Held a Working Meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden in the Republic of Moldova

The meeting of Nina Shtanski, the Head of the Foreign Service of Pridnestrovie, with Ingrid Tersman, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden in the Republic of Moldova, was held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR. The meeting was also attended by Bjorn Kavalkov-Halvarsson, the Deputy Head of the Mission of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Moldova.



The meeting was focused on the discussion of a cultural project dedicated to the 300-th anniversary of presence of Charles XII of Sweden in Bendery and Varnitsa. Ingrid Tersman noted that this episode in the history of Sweden attracts great interest and told about a number of events coincided with this date. The Swedish Royal Armoury of the Museum of the King of Sweden has undertaken a study and has developed a project of the exhibition devoted to the Swedish presence in Pridnestrovie. On the eve of the exhibition a conference with the participation of Pridnestrovian, Moldovan, Ukrainian, Swedish, and Turkish researchers will take place in Kishinev. “Reports of the conference participants will be compiled in a book which will allow increasing information about the region's history and events of that time,” Ingrid Tersman said. 



Nina Shtanski emphasized a positive momentum of current cultural cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Sweden. “On behalf of the Head of the State the MFA of the PMR will render comprehensive assistance while arranging activities related to this important historical date,” the Minister assured.  


Answering journalists' questions Nina Shtanski stressed that cultural and historical events gives a great opportunity for foreign guests to gain acquaintance with Pridnestrovie.



The Head of the MFA of the PMR told also that a new stamp will be issued within the planned events. “The stamps will be cancelled in the Bendery fortress on the February 1st,” Nina Shtanski said.



The Minister noted that cultural cooperation with Sweden will be actively carried on in 2013. According to her, “Positive dynamics in strengthening of relations between the representatives of culture, art, and historians of our Republic and foreign countries will be enhanced in the future.”
