From now on the day of July 28 shall be celebrated in Pridnestrovie as the Day of Peacekeeper. Corresponding decree was signed today by the President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk.
According to the decree monument shall be inaugurated in Bendery to commemorate 20th anniversary of introduction of Russian peacekeeping force. The bridge across Dniester on the Tiraspol-Bendery highway shall be named “The Bridge of Peacekeepers of Russia”. Commemorative plaque shall be installed on it.
Changes also touched the Military Institute of the PMR's Ministry of Defence. From now on it shall bear the name of lieutenant-general, commander of the Russian 14th Army in 1992-1995 Alexander Ivanovich Lebed.
