On March 28, 2012 in Office of the OSCE Mission in Kishinev a meeting between expert (working) groups of the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic and the Republic of Moldova took place.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of acting Head of the OSCE Mission Jan Plesinger with the participation of Political Representatives of Pridnestrovie and Moldova – Nina Shtanski and Yevgeny Karpov, and the representatives of the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the OSCE, the EU and the USA.
During the meeting the sides discussed a number of practical aspects of joint activity. In particular, three basic issues connected with social-economic sphere: problems of railroad and vehicle connection, organization of zones of joint customs control and the resumption of movement on the highway M-14, were considered.
The parties led opened dialogue on the designated directions. Experts expressed constructive attitude towards the whole complex of the established problems.
Evaluating the outcomes of the today's meeting Nina Shtanski noted in her interview to the journalists: “Today the sides worked successfully and effectively. It is significant because the welfare of the people on the both banks of the Dniester depends on the settlement of the present issues, if we will be able to reach the agreement.” Pridnestrovien Political Representative is sure, that the resumption of the railroad connection will allow to intensify the activity of big and small economical agents both in Pridnestrovie and in the Republic of Moldova: “This concerns not only big economical agents but also the objects of small business, including those located on the south of Moldova,” Nina Shtanski said.
Nina Shtanski also reported, that the sides coordinated holding of the meeting of the President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk and Prime-minister of the RM Vlad Filat which will take place on March 30 in Tiraspol. The agenda will include the discussion of the issue connected with the resumption of full-scale railroad connection.
