Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for international Cooperation, Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Farit Mukhametshin.
During the meeting the parties discussed a number of issues of bilateral cooperation. A particular attention was paid to the development of consular service for citizens of Russia living in Pridnestrovie.
According to Russian Ambassador, despite the expansion of consular service, the present personnel potential are not enough in order to meet the demands of the population. “We put much effort, but there\'s no limit to perfection. One of the difficulties has emerged in the course of the work: a lawyer arrives once a week, but legal issues arise every day. I am encouraged that the work was increased there. Now, the work fulfills in an optimistic way, people highly appreciate it,” – said Farit Mukhametshin. Nina Shtanski agreed that the issue of consular service became very sensitive now in the context of those restrictions faced by people. “There are a lot of complaints, appeals, requests; apparently, this requires clarification of the situation we are currently facing,” – pointed out the Minister.
In the course of the meeting Russia's Ambassador said that the Russian side was ready to begin to dismantle the unsafe cableway (funicular) between the cities of Rybnitsa and Rezina. We remind that the agreement on dismantling of the hazardous cableway was reached by Pridnestrovie and Moldova earlier, on May 24, 2013, during the Odessa 5+2 meeting. Farit Mukhametshin said that a group of Russian experts would arrive in Pridnestrovie, and on April, 7 they would begin the work on dismantling. Nina Shtanski noted that people of Rybnitsa were waiting very much the beginning of work.
The Minister also thanked Ambassador for the willingness to visit our republic in such complex situation. The Diplomat noted that the arrival of the Head of the Russian Embassy indicated that the situation in Pridnestrovie was far from the image that some media and representatives of Ukraine tried to create. “We expressed our gratitude for your visit. You are the only one among the accredited heads of diplomatic missions who wished to see for himself the situation on the border between Pridnestrovie and Ukraine,”- she said.
After the meeting, the diplomats moved to checkpoint “Pervomaisk” to see the situation on the border between Pridnestrovie and Ukraine.
