“The latest consultations in 5+2 format in Dublin showed Kiev's active position. Mister Kharchenko, the Representative of Ukraine in negotiation process on Moldova-Pridnestrovie settlement, made considerable efforts in order to help the sides in finding of compromise formulas. We felt Ukrainian support. By the word “we” I mean both sides. Unindifferent attitude revealed by the Ukrainian side when Kishinev and Tiraspol seemed to be at a deadlock while discussing the procedural issues, played an important role in achievement of certain results,” Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski expressed her opinion to the delegation of Ukrainian journalists during the press-conference of the President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk.
Answering the questions concerning the things Tiraspol expects from Ukraine within the context of restarted activity of 5+2 format, diplomat expressed opinion, that success of future consultations in Vienna depends to a large extent not only on negotiating parties but on all the participants of the negotiations. “I hope that in Vienna we will manage to coordinate basic procedures and to come to common understanding of the principle of the equality of the sides – this is basic negotiation principle. We also hope, that guarantee functions, including the functions of Ukraine as guarantor state, will be fixed in corresponding documents,” Nina Shtanski reported. Minister told Ukrainian journalists, that Pridnestrovian foreign office works actively in order to achieve these goals. “We held preliminary consultations, submitted the projects of corresponding documents; and I hope, that it is Vienna where we will manage to discuss them,” she said.
Head of the PMR's MFA also reported that it is planned to continue the discussion of socio-economical issues in Vienna. “In compliance with assignment of Head of State we have the whole complex of topics which we plan to include in agenda of consultations. We consider that negotiation space should be filled with the decision of certain practical tasks that influence on the welfare of people living in Pridnestrovie and Moldova,” Nina Shtanski emphasized.
