Today, the Foreign Ministry hosted the meeting of Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski and British Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Philip David Batson who replaced Keith Shannon on this post on the 23rd of April, 2013.
During the meeting, Head of the Pridnestrovian MFA Nina Shtanski congratulated her interlocutor on his high appointment in the capacity of Ambassador and highly valued assistance rendered by Embassy in strengthening trust between Tiraspol and Kishinev. The diplomat also noted the significant contribution of Great Britain to the development of international cooperation of Pridnestrovie in cultural and educational field.
“Traditionally we develop constructive and friendly relations with the British Embassy. This allows deepen our ties, especially in culture, sport and science. We hope very much that our cooperation will enhance. We see high potential in developing cooperation in the sphere of education, student exchange and various youth projects. I believe, participation of representatives of the British Embassy in today's investment forum will open new opportunities also in the sphere of economy,” the Minister told.
Commenting on the results of the meeting, Philip David Batson reaffirmed readiness of the British side to continue fruitful cooperation with Pridnestrovie. “We will further contribute to the peaceful dialogue between Republic of Moldova and Pridnestrovie. Our special interest lies also in such sectors as trade relations and development of a small and medium business”.
In her turn, Nina Shtanski expressed appreciation to the British side for assistance in the solution of a number of pressing socio-humanitarian problems. “We are interested in further development of our joint projects, and today's meeting have not left the slightest doubt that fruitful cooperation between Foreign Ministry of the PMR and British Embassy will further enhance,” the Minister concluded.
