The official site of the President of Russia reported that yesterday, Vladimir Putin, president of the Russian Federation, had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel. The two leaders discussed the situation in Ukraine and exchanged views on the situation in Pridnestrovie. The Russia's leader touched upon the Pridnestrovian issue, he emphasized the need for effective measures to end what amounts to an external blockade and to find a fair and comprehensive solution to the Pridnestrovie problem.

“Mr Putin and Ms Merkel agreed to continue close bilateral contacts at various levels on all of these issues,”- reported by the press service of the President of Russia.

The current situation in Moldo-Pridnestrovian settlement requiring increasing political and diplomatic efforts was also discussed during the conversation between the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, with his colleague from Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
