Meeting with the Security Council of the PMR

President Yevgeny Shevchuk held a Security Council meeting. They discussed issues related to the security of the country under the current situation. The attention was paid to the aspects of the additional accumulation of resources for maintaining law and order in the republic and defence capacity of the state.

“At the moment we do not have information about the direct military threat, - stressed the President. – However, there is a concentration of additional forces and means on the part of Ukraine in  the vicinity of the borders, and also activation of preparation of the forces and means of the Republic of Moldova: exercises are being conducted, special subunits are preparing with the involvement of Western specialists.”

Yevgeny Shevchuk noted that the Administration of the President receives numerous letters of citizens who express concerns about the situation.  “Fuel to the fire is added by the media. Unfortunately, the rumours “do good work” - said the head of state in his interview to the journalists. - All state authorities, including the power element, work as usual, fully perform their functions.” The President urged Pridnestrovians “not to respond to rumours and gossip” and noted that the citizens would be informed about the changes of the situation on the border in a timely manner through official sources.

The President highlighted that Pridnestrovie is aimed at and based on a peaceful foreign policy, the defense doctrine. “We have repeatedly stated about it. We support good neighbourly relations. I hope that our partners in Kishinev and Kiev hear our statements,” said Yevgeny Shevchuk.

“We will pass through this difficult for the country period of economic challenges and information pressure, which is carried out against the republic from neighbouring states”, concluded the head of state.
