Vladimir Yastrebchak gives an interview to the German radio “ARD”

On June 24, 2009, PMR Foreign Minister Vladimir Yastrebchak answered questions of the head of the correspondent\'s office of the German radio “ARD” in Moscow Mrs Ester Hartbrich-Albring.

Answering the question about the possibility of gaining independence, the Minister delivered the official position of the Pridnestrovian side, marking that vitality of the state is determined not by the territory size only but to a large extent depends on the will of its people as well as efforts of many years. Vladimir Yastrebchak emphasized that recognition of independent international legal status of the PMR is one of the fundamental tasks of the MFA which in its activity rests upon the will of the people, proceeds from the existing realities and modern international tendencies.

The Minister also noted that Pridnestrovie to the full extent possesses its own positive brands, characteristic features that make the “face” of the Pridnestrovian Moldavia Republic recognizable on the international level.

In his comments about the potential of the mutual co-existence of Moldova and Pridnestrovie, Vladimir Yastrebchak analyzed the dynamics of the sides' positions during the period of almost 20 years and gave substantial characteristics of the main stages of the settlement process. In this regard, the Minister underlined that during a long-term period Pridnestrovie more than once made compromise decisions on the whole range of models for mutual relations' construction. These steps, however, were left without appreciation and real support on the part of the official Kishinev.

Touching upon the issue of the elections in the RM, the Pridnestrovian diplomat marked that the PMR is interested in the formation of a stable power system in the neighbouring republic which, if possible, would possess such traditionally important for any negotiations features as deliberateness, responsibility and negotiability.
