On May 23, 2012, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR saw a meeting between Deputy head of foreign office Vitaly Ignatiev and Permanent Representative of International Monetary Fund in Moldova Tohir Mirzoev. Participating in the meeting were also Deputy Head of Government of the PMR on economical development and finance, Minister of Economical Development Maiya Parnas and Minister of Finance Elena Girzhul.
Vitaly Ignatiev noticed positive dynamics and certain serious achievements, reached during the process of negotiations, which allow Pridnestrovie to look to the activity of expert groups with optimism. “We suppose, that the resumption of a railroad transit of cargoes will become one of the elements, which will stabilize the economy of Pridnestrovie,” diplomat emphasized.
During the meeting the sides exchanged opinions of the issues connected with economical development of Pridnestrovie, discussed situation in banking sector, in financial sphere.
At the close of the meeting Vitaly Ignatiev noted, that there is a whole number of certain spheres, where International Monetary Fund is ready to consider the possibility of rendering of assistance to Pridnestrovie. “I mean technical assistance in organization on seminars, organization of courses for specialists in different spheres connected with economy and visits of the experts for the analysis, study and evaluation of the situation in a number of related fields,” Vitaly Ignatiev told.
Vitaly Ignatiev noticed, that representative of the IMF gave high evaluation to tactics of “small steps” which provides for priority settlement of economical and socio-humanitarian issues without connecting them with political circumstances. “Understanding of our international partners is important for us to realize this strategy with their assistance progressively,” Deputy Minister emphasized.
Answering the questions of the journalists, Vitaly Ignatiev noted, that a certain part of topical issues will be considered within the framework of interaction of expert (working) groups on economical issues of Pridnestrovie and Moldova including that with possible participation of the representatives of the IMF.
