The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Dmitry Palamarchuk with a delegation of the Economic Service for CIS Countries and Georgia of the French Embassy in the Russian Federation and Ukraine. The delegation included Head of the Economic Service of the French Embassy in Ukraine Vincent Falcoz and Deputy Financial Advisor of the French Embassy in Russia Julien Gebel. From the Pridnestrovian side the meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the PMR Inna Linnik and Deputy Minister of Finance of the PMR, Director of the State Tax Service of the Ministry of Finance of the PMR Alla Skibenko.

Guests were interested in the current economic situation in Pridnestrovie, particularly regarding the GDP, industrial production and volume of trade with major trading partners of the republic.

We remind that during last visit to Pridnestrovie in April 2015, French diplomats were informed about the foreign economic activity of Pridnestrovie, its main directions, as well as the difficulties faced by the Pridnestrovian economic agents in the context of strengthening of the blockade measures by Moldova and Ukraine.

In the course of the meeting, Dmitry Palamarchuk informed the guests about the deterioration of the economic situation of Pridnestrovie, focusing on the main factors adversely affecting the export-oriented economy of the republic. Strengthening of the blockade manifestations against Pridnestrovie’s economy on the part of Moldova and Ukraine is the most sensitive factor, according to the diplomat.

“A new serious problem on the part of the Republic of Moldova is criminal cases initiated against 49 Pridnestrovian entrepreneurs,” - stated the Deputy Head of the Foreign Ministry.

Dmitry Palamarchuk also reminded French diplomats about the ban on the import of excise goods to Pridnestrovie, as well as any goods imported to the republic by enterprises not registered in neighbouring Moldova.

At the end of the meeting the sides stressed the practical importance of the direct contacts for providing fair view of the economic situation in Pridnestrovie and in the region as a whole.
