Today, the PMR’s MFA hosted a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev and the delegation of the Council of Europe. Taking part in the meeting were Head of the Confidence-Building Measures Division of the Directorate for Political Advice and Co-operation of the Council of Europe Anna Capello and Head of the Confidence-Building Measures Programme of the Council of Europe in Moldova Irina Saakyan. The Pridnestrovian side included Minister for Social Protection and Labour of the PMR Oksana Bulanova.
The parties discussed the current state of cooperation between Pridnestrovie and the Council of Europe in several areas, particularly in the areas of health, social protection, as well as interaction in the area of media.
“Pridnestrovie actively cooperates with the Council of Europe in the framework of a number of projects, and of course we intend to develop our cooperation in the future. The areas in which these projects are implemented - protection of cultural heritage, social protection, inclusive education and a number of other areas – are of interest to us and have a high potential for development”, - said Vitaly Ignatiev.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to issues of social integration of people with disabilities. In particular, Oksana Bulanova informed that within this work it is planned to establish day-care centers for children and adults with disabilities in Pridnestrovie. The possibilities of implementing specific activities in this area will be considered in the near future.
The two sides also agreed to continue cooperation in the field of cultural heritage preservation and strengthening the capacity of the media.
